Workshop | Buttercream 02 | 3 December



There are few things as satisfying as achieving silky smooth buttercream & the perfect drip.

In this one day workshop, the LionHeart Gurls, Nikki and Karmen, are going to show you how to do just that! Plus, you’ll get to frost a cake and show off the super skills you’ll be learning.

Date: Sunday 3 December 2017
Time: 09:30 – 14:30 (please arrive 15-20 minutes before to settle in)
Venue: 37 Durham Avenue, Woodstock, Cape Town
Skill level: Intermediate (advisable to have basic cake decorating knowledge)
Class size: 8 pax

In the workshop we will cover the following:


  • The basics about buttercream
  • Cake decorating equipment & tools
  • Cake design & time planning
  • How to line your baking tin
  • Transporting tips
  • How to make a ganache for drip cakes
  • Melting chocolate and making interesting chocolate decorations


Getting down to (buttercream) business:

  • Swiss Meringue Buttercream (SMBC) demonstration (we will show you how to make your own at home but will supply frosting to use on the day)
  • Colouring buttercream with gel colours
  • Stack and fill a cake with sponges and frosting provided
  • Frost your cake with SMBC and achieve a smooth look with sharp edges
  • Make chocolate decorations for your cake
  • Drip your cake with ganache (we will show you how to make it at home but we will make the ganache for you to use on the day)
  • Decorate your cake with chocolate details, cake topper, macarons and meringues

What will be provided?

  • Cake decorating equipment and tools, cake sponges, frosting, cake decorations (macaron, meringue, topper) and an apron (these are your to use for the day but please leave it behind at the end of the class)
  • Croissant (to get you started), tea, coffee, bubbly and light snacks

You will take home:

  • A booklet with theory, recipes and resource list
  • Your beautifully frosted and decorated cake

What to wear?

We will be supplying a full­-length apron but wear comfy clothes and shoes that you don’t mind getting a little full of frosting.

Ticket sales are final and non-refundable. If you are unable to attend you are welcome to gift the ticket to a friend. We reserve the right to cancel the workshop at any time in which case we will issue refunds.

*PLEASE NOTE: You will receive an invoice with payment detail once you have requested to book your spot/s. It is in your own best interest to make payment as soon as you have received the invoice. We work on a first come first served basis and will only hold tickets for 48 hours once the invoice has been issued – we reserve the right to sell this ticket to another customer if you do not pay by the invoice due date.. Once payment has been made you will receive an email from us confirming your ticket/s. Attendees do not receive a physical ticket.
